Chris Estes

Chris Estes, publisher of ScreamingBooks.com, is an outdoors enthusiast whose hiking addiction propels him to hike at least 100 days per year. Estes has hiked and backpacked extensively across the northeast – from the Adirondacks to the White Mountains to Baxter State Park.

An avid backpacker, as well as a skier (both alpine and backcountry), Estes has backpacked nearly 200 miles of the Long Trail in Vermont. Estes has stayed at or visited more than 60 backcountry huts, cabins and yurts across the northeast.

Estes also has a backcountry alpine skiing addiction -- in which he hikes up mountains and skis down them -- and has skinned and skied numerous peaks across the northeast. These include Mount Greylock's Thunderbolt Ski Trail (MA), Mount Mansfield (VT) and Mount Washington's Gulf of Slides and Tuckerman Ravine (NH).

A New Hampshire native who lived in Vermont for more than two decades, Estes has never accepted anything free from any organization about which he has written.
